These forums have been going good for quite some time now, and weâve been thinking âdontâcha think itâs about time we wrote an info/ rules sticky?!â
Well the active moderating team has put our heads together and out popped the following:
Forum Information:
- From the words of Jose Nintendo himself (site admin):
âThe MiiPlaza.net forum may not be too familiar at first. It's a custom forum, found only on MiiPlaza.net (or at least, for now), so it's a bit different from your typical internet message board... this thread should help bring you up to speed.
To start with, the forum is largely controlled by the community. There are moderators on the forum who can lock and sticky topics, or move forum threads to the board it belongs in, but the removing of topics and permanent stickitization (is that a word?) of topics is handled by you.
Flagging Topics
When you're logged in, you can remove a topic from the board by clicking the red flag next to the topic name. The flag will become red, signifying you've flagged it. If enough users flag the thread, it will be removed, restorable only by a moderator.
Bookmarking Topics
When you bookmark a topic, it will be stored and available to you whenever you log back in for easier access. If enough users bookmark a topic, it will become a sticky!
Locked Topics
Topics that are crossed out have been locked by moderators. When a forum thread strays too far from it's topic, it will likely be locked. Unlike flagged topics, locked topics may still be read.
(NOTE: You can request for a moderator to locked a topic and we will consider, if we find it is eligible for locking we will do so (locked threads can still be read but not posted in) If the thread is completely inappropriate we do have the power to completely remove the thread from existence. This also goes for stickying and removing stickied topics.) - Charlieboy
Sticky Topics
Stickies are forum topics that have become popular, either by way of moderators marking them as sticky or by the community collectively bookmarking them, and they reside at the top of the first page of each forum.
Text Styling, Images, Videos & Rich Content
You can embed images, Miis, YouTube videos, Google videos, and more in your posts. We'll have button controls soon, but in the meantime you can use standard BB code as well as some of our own inventions: "[youtube][/youtube]" with a YouTube video ID between the tags will produce a video, same goes for [googlevideo], [mii] and [quote=Person's Name] ... all of these will go a long way when communicating on the forum. More will be added as things get better.

Quoting
When you click "Quote & Reply" under a post, the "Reply" field at the bottom of the page will be populated with the post's quote id, which, when you click submit, will turn into a block quote of the user's post in your post. If you wish to quote only a part of the user's post, you can copy-and-paste the text into the "Reply" field and add the quote tags around it manually, adding the user's name within the open tag [quote=Jose Nintendo].
(NOTE: You can quote freely whenever you want.) - Charlieboy
Editing
You have a limited amount of time to edit a post after the initial post. When you edit a post, an "Edited" tag will be added to the base of the post, signifying that the post was edited and at what time. It's considered common courtesy to mark edited text as such within your post.
(NOTE: If you created a thread, you can edit the first post of that thread whenever you want, all other posts will have a limited amount of time for editing) - Charlieboy
Moderators
Moderators are selected by their contribution and support for MiiPlaza.net - they are strong community members in the pursuit of justice... or... something. Regardless of what they're pursuing, they can assist you with most things, like if you're having trouble with another user or you need help figuring out how to post a video. Seek out users who have the word "Moderator" next to their names in comments, and in the meantime, we'll work on assembling a list.
Silencing
MiiPlaza.net does not ban users. We all have our bad days and our bad moods, and on those days, if we choose to showboat our temper near a moderator or an admin, we'll be summarily silenced. Silencing lasts for about 3 days time - and when you're silenced, you can't post or send messages. Trust those who silence you - it's for your own good.
Footers
Your footer (or "signature") may be edited within the Preferences section in the My Account area. Images may be used, but they will only be visible if other users turn them on.
Search
The "Search" function is straight forward, and uses the Google search engine for searching. Feel free to use common Google search syntax when performing searches in the forum.â

The edit feature for posts seems to having some trouble with some users, the edit box is a little too big and covers the âsaveâ and other buttons needed to complete the edit. If you have trouble with this editing bug, please PM a moderator.

Rules:
- Spamming and/or inappropriate posts or threads are not allowed or tolerated, period.
- Keep topics in the correct forum, if you donât know where to post a certain topic, ask us or just post it anywhere and we can move it for you.
- Threads aimed at offending anyone to some extent will be removed completely.
- Use common forum courtesies, watch what youâre posting.
- watch the language, we donât really go after this as much and we do have a word filter that will substitute any inappropriate word with stars, ****. Bypassing the filter is an offense.
- These rules apply not just to the Miiplaza.net Forums but the Chat as well.
- Be safe and have fun, if you donât, we have a big problem. Lol.

We do not like to âbanâ members here (like Jose said), and up to this date have not banned one member! Instead we have silencing feature both in here (and the chat) and for the entire site as well! The way this works is, if youâve been a bad boy or girl we simply silence you making your voice unheard throughout the site, until we feel you can be let back into the fun. This is a last resort in any case. Donât let you be the first one to silenced from the site. Plain and simple.
Moderators not only have the power to edit their own posts whenever they want, but they can also edit your posts whenever they want. If you post anything against the rules here, we will edit the post.
With a good set of information and rules in the forums, We think this section of this great site will see great improvements!

I obey the laws of the first amendment in the constitution! Quite frankly I think it's pretty stupid that little kids who get the title of "moderator" think they can tell any one what they can or can't talk about! I hope no one expects me to listen to or obey these ridiculous standards!

Actually, if they decided you're becoming a problem, I think it's well within their power to do something about it. That's kind of what "moderator" means, you know.
I am simply using the forums as everyone else! No action will be taken! And if there is it would be completely ridiculous and they would just do it to feel all mighty! And if this is the case well then this site is becoming a communist government!

Nobody else is trolling, and usually trolls get suspended or banned from forums. At least that's how it's worked in every one I've been to. Why would Jose prevent them from doing it if you're being a jerk on his forum? You're the one causing problems, not anyone else.
Well I'm not gonna get banned for expressing my dislike of the forums! The only time that i turn into an ******* is when I am defending myself from the people who personally attack me for my views on the forums! those who point me out will be pointed out themselves! Tit for tat!

I don't know how many other forums you've been to, but it doesn't work that way. Other people don't get in trouble for being annoyed by your rude comments.
Do it in the Help Forum under a threat about that. As long as you keep spamming other threads with unrelated bickering and dodging word filters... You are violating the rules!
