i just bought the mgs: the essential collection that consists of mgs 1 with both disks, mgs 2: substance with the first disk, and mgs3: substance with the first disk. great deal, only thirty bucks.
Finally got this on 11 June, one day before the official release courtesy of Play.com. I'm now 10 hours in and it's easily one of the best games I've ever played, it's also the best next-gen game so far and the story is fantastic. I've uploaded some pics I took of the UK Limited edition (the version I bought) onto my images section if anyone wants to see what they're missing out on.

iim getting the limited after work and i cant wait!!I hope snake doesnt die from foxdie and i hope revoler ****ing dies im soo sick of fighting for nearly 10 years lol -anyways my psn-TIPTOPTIP see ya!
Well I finished it yesterday and it was really good overall. I wasn't too much of a fan of the debriefing scene, it was a bit too ridiculous for me and the fact that you never get to play as Raiden is rubbish. But piloting REX almost made up for it. I was really shocked when it turned out *massive spoiler coming below*
that Ocelot isn't Liquid after all, he just had Liquid's personality put into him.
If you look at Josean's "PlayStation 3: Is it worth it?" thread I posted a load more games that are coming out for the PS3 later this year and early next year that are bound to be great. Of course if you never played any of the other MGS games then you won't ever fully enjoy it. There's a ridiculous number of easter eggs in the game as well and I never played a single player game with such replayability.

I'm having trouble with the online.I keep getting "disconnected from the server" or "an error occurred, you've been signed out of the PS Network".I feel no lag, the game runs smoothly. But all of a sudden an error comes up. There are some times when I canplay for hours and no error.
it frustrates me because the online is pure perfection and I can't enjoy my purchase to it's maximum....
....help me.
Oh! And the double die.... what's up with that?!Every now and then when I respawn my characters dies again for no reason. It doesn't count as a death or kill. It just dies again. -_-

The signing out of the PSN happened to me a few times when I first got my PS3 but it's not happened in ages so it may just be adjusting. As for MGO (which I'm assuming is what you're talking about) I have no idea why the double death happens, granted it's only happened to me once but it's clearly still a problem. Some people have also had problems connecting to games in MGO, particularly those with AOL accounts so if you're on AOL that could explain it.
Have you finished the single player by the way? What did you think?
AOL? Hell no.
I had AOL during the dial-up era. I learned as much as never to buy AOL again.
But, yeah. I finished the single player. Perfection.
**SPOILERS**
Although, I thought they explained way too much. I would have preferred the game to have finished when Snake shot himself and leave the rest to the audience imagination. I think that would have been more artistic. Still, it was good knowing the whole picture in intricate detail; so I have mixed feelings in that part.
However, I really loved every single part of the single player. The end was amazing, when you're battling through the microwaves. Damn, I felt like I was tired myself. XD

It is Kojima's last MGS as director but he's said many times he wants the series to continue and that he'll only be a producer at most as he wants his staff to take on the responsibility. By the way Josean, did you play using a SIXAXIS or DualShock 3? I used a SIXAXIS since DS3s aren't out in Europe yet but it made the Psycho Mantis "fight" just that little bit more classic. I'm going to import a DS3 soon anyway and replay the game (cutscenes and all) on Big Boss hard with it, right now I'm playing on The Boss extreme in an attempt to get the Big Boss rank.

I'm just new to the world of PS3 controllers, so I'm not sure what you mean.
I have a DS3 and it has SIXAXIS. If you mean the rumble, I think that was hilarious!
"Oh, yes! Rumble's back!"
To say it stupidly... I lol'd. XD
I was playing it on Big Boss Hard too. But a friend gave me Ratchet and Clank Future and since I have
never played a Ratchet and Clank game, I though I would give it a try.
It's really good. Clean, family, shooting -stuff fun, :)
I'm really glad I bought the bundle. BTW, Derreck. They discontinued the bundle. It was going to be sold only
on MGS4 launch day. Sony's loosing enough money on production as is. Maybe they'll lower the prices once
they get back in the game.
@Josean - SIXAXIS controllers were the first ones they released (and are still the only type available in Europe) and they are rumbleless, basically Mantis tries to make your controller rumble except he says "What?! No rumble? Aaaaahhhh!" and explodes. Classic.
It's not based on them, the character of Solid Snake is partially based on Snake Pliskin from Escape from New York. Hence his fake name in MGS2 being Iroquois Pliskin (may have spelt that wrong).

I saw a Trailer where He had the Gun in His Mouth and it ended There.
I don't have a PS3, and don't plan on getting One, but I love hearing about This.
It is the next best thing.
MGS4 sounds like a Game for the Ages.

He pulls the trigger but the gun's not aiming at him when he pulls it.
Sounds like MGS5 is going to be Big Boss related:

I though This was Kojima's Final MGS.

If I ever stumble upon a Small Fortune, I am really leaning towards buying the PS3 MGS4 Bundle.
It certainly sounds worth It.

Well, I'd still buy One with such Greats as Ratchet & Clank, GTA4, and MGS4.

Just snapped a picture of the greatest character in MGS history.

Ok, this site officially sucks for posting images.

Anyways, Mantis makes me lay the controller on the floor (like on MGS1) and moves it with vibration.
And the he says:
"Oh! YEAH! Rumble is back!"
And I forget the rest, he says something else funny and leaves in peace thanks to rumble functionality,. XD
